Patio Vol. 1 & 2

For its summer exhibition, Sinople unveils a proposal in two acts. Complementary, these two exhibitions allow once again the meeting of art and design around the same curation theme. All the pieces will be visible during the two acts, the second offering a space of expression to the ceramist Ciprian Tocu during the Paris Design Week.

The exhibition brings together a selection of furniture pieces by Perron et Frères, Charlotte Anne Declercq and Studio Corkinho, all based on the archetype of the patio, an open-air interior and recreational space in the centre of the home, suitable for receptions and rest.

Inspired by the architecture of the Parisian gardens, by the sense and rhythm of circulation that they impose, the ceramist Ciprian Tocu conceived a set of sculptures and objects with forms and glazes specially developed for the gallery. From browns to greens, their colours blend with earth, plants and metal. They embody a contemporary vision of the vegetated space and its relationship to time that it induces more specifically in Parisian parks. The concept associated with these forms of use and sculpture responds to the play of water and colour, light and shadow, reflections, perspectives and construction characteristic of these places of life, and strolling.

Thierry Urbain’s photographic series “Eternités” and “Le Jardin Fermé”, Laetitia Jacquetton’s “vases sculptures” and Ciprian Tocu’s ink and barbotine paintings punctuate this contemplative volume among other works in the gallery.
