A poetic aluminum foil fashioned with Isaak Rensing (a sheet metal worker specializing in the restoration of vintage vehicles), “Filicinae” renews the experience the artist and the craftsman had initiated with Magnolia macrophylla - the masks: imprinting a plant on a metal surface.
Like a contemporary fossil and with a great deal of precision, the piece reveals every element of a common fern’s natural graphics, appearing and disappearing as reflections dance on the metal.
