Ligare
From 5 September to 5 October 2024, in two acts from Paris Design Week to Paris Fashion Week, SINOPLE presents “Ligare”, an installation combining architecture, design, art and fashion.
Laurel Parker Book, Inès Bressand Studio and Miyouki Nakajima have come together through their explorations and cultural cross-fertilisation of three natural fibres, from Japan to Ghana, to create an artistic and functional overview of the innovative and contemporary uses of washi paper, silk and an African grass.
The materials they encountered during their residencies, and the techniques they learnt on their own, enable them to ennoble and give shape to a simple material. The result is atypical, contemporary productions that take a fresh look at traditional skills. The fibre becomes a link between ancestral and hybrid practices, between the cultures from which they originate and those of these designers.
Paper becomes a surface or a volume for architecture, grass becomes furniture or fashion accessories, while silk becomes sculpture or abstract composition. Here, light and shadow play with the reflections and lines of the materials.
