A journey to Nantes : the fragance
12.06 – 12.09.2021
For the next edition of A journey to Nantes, the city has called on Atelier Polyhedre to design the scenography and the bottle that will present three olfactory evocations of the city imagined by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, Bertrand Duchaufour and Mélanie Leroux.
During A journey to Nantes festival, three perfumed interpretations of the city, imagined by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, Bertrand Duchaufour and Mélanie Leroux, are presented to the public in the Horseshoe Tower of the Château des Ducs de Bretagne. The scenography of the discovery of the three perfumes and the design of the bottle were entrusted to the Atelier Polyhedre, chosen for their simple formal language which privileges the relationship between the container and the content and their repertoire inspired by the natural world, the development of plants, geology and water.
The black and white scenography evokes a suspended liquid world. On a black floor, tables with a black, lacquered surface, reflective like water, and with the sinuous contours of the Loire islands, hold shiny white ceramic displays whose cone recalls a utensil needed to prepare a perfume. Each object holds strips impregnated with each of the three scents. After this blind discovery, the visitor is invited to slide a transparent marble into the receptacle of the perfume of his choice, as if drops were gradually filling the bottle of the future chosen perfume.
The bottle lies flat as a travel object. Made of transparent white glass, the patterns of the circles superimposed one on top of the other in a regular order, increasing on the front and decreasing on the back, evoke the effect of a drop on the surface of the water, the imprint of the waves on the sand, the influence of the rising and falling tide on the Loire…
The fragrance chosen by the public will be revealed at the end of August and will be released at the end of November 2021.
