7 trends spotted at Paris Design Week 2024

After an overabundance of contrasting, saturated colours, this is a time for soft fantasy. Shades are blurred to allow materials, textures, shapes and know-how to speak with finesse.

Until 14 September 2024, the heart of the capital is beating for Paris Design Week. While French designers unveil their new collections for contemporary publishers, design and architecture studios reveal new self-published pieces, galleries (SINOPLE, La LUNE, le petit prieuré, Tiny Room by India Mahdavi) showcase highly talented artists and craftspeople (Landy Rakoto, Inès Bressand Studio, Giuilia Cosenza, Wendy Andreu).

After a spate of contrasting, saturated colours, this is a time for soft fantasy. Shades are blurred to allow materials, textures, shapes and know-how to speak with finesse. For example, when steel becomes dull, wood is cut with a laser like folded lace paper. A return to nature, between astral forest, invasive brambles and shifting sand, is also noticeable. A poetry of the everyday, where each piece tells a story.
