Contributions Festival

In this legendary workshop, kept untouched through time and located between the Montparnasse and Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhoods, three generations driven by creativity have succeeded each other. Art, architecture, craftsmanship, and intellect have converged here to give birth to significant works, whether in stained glass or sculpture form. Sacred art occupied a distinct place, imparting a unique aura to the space. At the back of the courtyard, in the cold and magnificent northern light, colors can be worked on without distortion.

Inspired by the spirit of the place, Mariana and the founders of Sinople have absorbed the luminous and colorful beams that traverse it, envisioning the altar of an absent divine figure. Irida is a celestial and winged figure, a servant of the Olympians and the personification of the rainbow, bridging the gap between Earth and ether. From the depths of the sea and subterranean realms to the heavens, she, the messenger of the gods, connects them to humanity. With the swiftness of the wind, she travels beyond the elements, uniting multiple territories that nonetheless exist in one and the same place. Yet, her cult remained minor in antiquity.

The artist and the gallery pay homage to Irida in a cultural and visual intersection where artistic gestures reframe the elements of nature, vernacular techniques, or industrial materials with a contemporary fervor. They give shape to a cohesive selection of works in which minimalism, geometry, structure – all acting as messengers of the light they perceive or emit – intertwine.
