Expertises
Muzzuni is the reinterpretation of a pagan myth celebrated every June 24 in the Sicilian village of Alcara Li Fusi. During the summer equinox, the women of this village adorn a barley vase with their finest fabrics and jewelry to pay a tribute to the God of fertility and ask for abundance in future harvests.
Made of hand-blown glass, the piece Victor Fleury Ponsin imagined in dialogue with glassblower Victor Stokowski combines hot modeling - with traditional tools and a tree branch - with the Incalmo technique. The latter consists in assembling two hot blown shapes along their circumference, allowing different zones and colors to come together in the same object.
Like in an initiation, our gaze wanders around this piece, between a shape that dances like a dress in the wind, a quivering nature and a heart, signifying the root of all belief, or even a symbol of motherhood. By creating a bare sculpture, where a strand connects the vaporous exterior with the inner essence, the artist lets the glass express itself and convey a sense of mystery, of sensuality.
