A series of archetypal and timeless objects made out of burnt cork, Studio Corkinho’s MOTHER collection is an ode to Gaia whose texture and tactile singularity allow for daily contemplation rituals.
Their minimally circular shapes evoke Mother Earth, the oak cork they were made in, the nine-year cycle necessary to replenish its skin and the bark which is so precious to this timber and to man. Designed by reusing cork scraps from plugs produced in Portugal, the artefacts from the MOTHER series are a sensual projection of the idea of sustainability and an eternal renewal of nature, of the possible return of these objects to their origin.
