Marion Chopineau

born in 1976, France
works and lives in Paris

A textile designer, Marion Chopineau designs contemporary textile structures often derived from the alteration, hybridization and diversion of artisanal techniques. Noticed at the Hyères Festival as early as 1998 thanks to her hair dresses, created with hairdressing techniques, Marion Chopineau lends a sculptural artistic approach to the exploration of life and textiles, chiefly illustrated by her carved out skins, true totems, her tapestries or her installations.

With a particular aspiration for creations in volume (circular braiding) or moulded directly onto the body, the artist deploys an ornamental and formal vocabulary that is constantly renewed.
