Antonis Cardew

After studying design in London, drawing in Florence, then alongside John Makepeace at Parnham House, Antonis Cardew set up his designer cabinetmaker workshop in the British capital and finally settled in Paris, where he has been living for about fifteen years.
born in 1968, Great-Britain
works and lives in Normandy

This true wood lover works with passion, commitment and conviction. “It is the only material that is renewable and natural and can be used both for furniture and architecture”. Each of his creations corresponds to a specific work technique, a subtle and preferably local wood type, and a refined design, allowing the material to reveal itself through his productions, and vice versa. Antonis Cardew imagines spaces, unique pieces and furniture which remind us that wood is a living, common, yet noble, material.

Born into a family of eminent artists and craftsmen, he believes his skill should be directed towards making everyday objects beautiful, durable and unique for their users. His sober aesthetic design and the quality of his work, which always reveals the softness of wood, must allow the object both to withstand the passage of time and to acquire a patina through its use.
